Sindh budget shows real steps for public welfare, says Sharjeel Memon

Published on: July 2, 2025 3:36 PM

KARACHI – Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said on Wednesday that the province’s development budget reflects more than just financial figures—it demonstrates a real commitment to improving public life.

While addressing the media, Memon stated that the one trillion rupee development budget is a continuation of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s people-friendly approach. He credited PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari for the vision behind this initiative.

According to the minister, the Sindh government is focusing on practical work instead of mere promises. He emphasized that the budget aims to raise the quality of life for citizens by enhancing infrastructure and basic services.

To support urban development, the government has allocated Rs7 billion each for Hyderabad and Benazirabad. These funds will be used to improve essential facilities, ensuring better living standards in both divisional headquarters.

Memon also pointed out that the construction of the Korangi Causeway and expansion of Shahrah-e-Bhutto are top priorities. These road projects are expected to reduce traffic congestion and make commuting easier in Karachi.

In a major move to solve the water crisis, he added that five desalination plants, each with a capacity of one million gallons per day (MGD), will be completed soon in Karachi. These will provide relief to residents suffering from water shortages.
