Dolly Parton issues heartfelt apology to fans amid health challenges
NASHVILLE: Dolly Parton addressed her fans in a heartfelt video message after missing the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Hall of Fame ceremony on November 17. The 79-year-old music legend was being honored for her Tennessee theme park, Dollywood, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year.

In the video shared on Instagram, Parton expressed her regret for not attending in person, citing health challenges that required her to “take it easy for just a little while.” She added, “I sure wish I could be with you in person today… but I sure wanted to take the chance to say, thank you for this incredible honor.”

Parton also thanked her longtime business partners, Jack and Peter, reflecting on her vision for Dollywood—a place in the Smoky Mountains for her family to perform, local residents to find work, and families to make lasting memories.

The country music icon is only the second woman ever inducted into the IAAPA Hall of Fame on her own, and the fourth in the organization’s 100-year history. Recently, she also accepted the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences remotely.
