ICC reportedly replaces Bangladesh with Scotland

Published on: January 24, 2026 4:30 PM

According to cricket websites, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly included Scotland in the T20 World Cup in place of Bangladesh. The tournament is scheduled to take place in India.

Scotland has been placed in Group C alongside Italy, Nepal, West Indies, and England, the sources added. The move comes after Bangladesh refused to send its team to India.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sources confirmed that the ICC has informed them of the decision. An emergency meeting of the BCB is currently underway to discuss the situation.

Bangladesh reportedly refused participation due to security concerns and after fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was excluded from the Indian Premier League. The team previously wrote to the ICC, requesting to move their matches out of India.

Earlier, the BCB had announced it would not reverse its decision to skip the T20 World Cup. The ICC has not yet officially confirmed Scotland’s inclusion in the tournament.
