IHC moved to remove PTI leader’s name from ECL

Published on: March 17, 2026 12:57 AM

A petition has been filed to Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking to remove Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) former member of the National Assembly Ayesha Nazir’s name from the exit control list (ECL). The petition prayed the court to declare the inclusion of the name in the list illegal and order its immediate removal. It requested the court to provide permission to travel abroad without any hindrance. The federal government, Director General Federal Investigation Agency and Director General Passport were named as parties in the petition. The petitioner said that she has obtained bail from the court in the relevant cases and she did not engage in any illegal activity. It said that on March 9, 2026, she was stopped from going abroad at Lahore airport while going to perform Umrah. The High Court has ordered the removal of the petitioner’s name from the ECL and the stop list in July 2024. The immigration authorities prevented her from boarding the plane despite showing court orders and bail orders, it said. The petitioner’s minor children were also not allowed to travel with her. Despite the previous order of the High Court, her name was not removed from the ECL is contempt of court which is violation of her fundamental rights.
