
China has rejected US President Donald Trump’s claim that a seized Iranian cargo ship was carrying a “gift from China.” The statement comes amid rising tensions following the interception of the vessel by US forces in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Iranian-flagged ship TOUSKA was seized on Sunday after reportedly refusing to comply with a US-imposed blockade. American Central Command confirmed that the vessel remains in US custody following the operation.

Trump had earlier suggested that the ship may have been carrying cargo linked to China, describing it as a “gift.” However, Beijing dismissed the claim and said it has consistently followed international obligations in maritime affairs.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson reiterated that China acts as a responsible global power and adheres to international law. The statement did not directly address the specific allegations but firmly rejected any implication of involvement.
