Abubakar, Hamza clinch junior tennis championship title

Pakistan’s Abubakar Talha and Hamza Roman have clinched the doubles title of the Treet ITF Pakistan Syed Dilawar Abbas Memorial Junior Tennis Championship (J-60, Leg-3) at the PTF Tennis Complex on Saturday.

A total of 24 boys and 20 girls from 16 countries; Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Singapore, Japan, China, Australia, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Sri Lanka, USA, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Netherlands and Thailand participated in the championships.

The event is organized annually in memory of Late Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas, who served as President of the PTF from 2001 to 2009. The championship stands as a tribute to his legacy, passion, and invaluable contributions to the development of tennis in Pakistan.

The event was proudly sponsored by Faisal Movers, Book Karo, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, Ndure and Syngenta.

In the Boys’ Doubles Final, Pakistan’s Abubakar Talha and Hamza Roman delivered an outstanding performance, defeating Luke Jie Xi Ho of Singapore and Mikaeel Ali Baig of Pakistan 6-1,6-0 to clinch the ITF J-60 doubles title.

In the Girls’ Doubles Final, Yerin Lim (KOR) and Zhiyu Zhou (CHN) defeated Kiko Okuyama (JPN) and Zihan Feng (CHN) 6-3, 1-6, (12-10) to secure the title.

At the closing ceremony, Tariq Mehmood Murtaza graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President PTF, attended as Guest of Honour. They distributed prizes among the winners and runners-ups.

The closing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Syed Ali Murtaza, Majid Bashir, Tufail Cheema, Col.Zia-ud-din Tufail, Saeed Ahmad Khan and Syed Ahsan Zaidi and a large number of Players, coaches, parents and tennis lovers.

The ITF Men’s Futures M-15 (Leg-1) tournament is set to begin tomorrow at the same venue, with play scheduled to start at 10am.
