Body of 11-year-old girl found in swimming pool drowning mystery

Published on: April 23, 2019 1:40 PM

The body of an 11-year-old domestic helper was recovered on Monday, from the swimming pool of a house in K-Block, Faisal Town, Lahore.

The victim has been identified as Hina, who worked at the home where her body was found.

A police party had reached the scene after being informed and collected evidence. Further investigation was said to be underway to ascertain whether the victim had drowned accidentally or was pushed into the pool.

During the investigation, the police arrested the deceased’s uncle, who also worked at the same place.

It is also being said that the accused threw the victim’s body in the pool after killing her. The authorities are investigating the prospect of physical abuse in the case.

One more arrest has also been made in this regard.

Earlier, the police had found the battered body of a 16-year-old maid from a nearby sewage drain in Lahore’s Iqbal Town in January, wherein her wealthy employer along with her daughter had been arrested over the charge of murder.

Police had then said the women had killed teenage Uzma on January 18 before dumping her body in a nearby sewage drain.

The young maid was killed for eating from the daughter’s plate, the police maintained, following which, her mother hit Uzma multiple times on her head with a steel dish and killed her.

On January 29, Prime Minister Khan had also directed to eliminate bonded labour from Pakistan while he added that steps must be taken to educate children of poor families.

In 2017, a famous television presenter was charged for forcefully detaining her teenage maid while a judge and his wife faced imprisonment in 2016 for torturing their 10-year-old maid.
