Dar assets reference case: Hearing resumes, legal team calls for hearing to be adjourned till Khawaja Harris’s return

Published on: October 18, 2017 12:56 PM

ISLAMABAD: The assets reference case hearing against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar resumed on Wednesday as per schedule after members of the prosecution and defense team appeared before court.

This is Dar’s sixth appearance before the accountability court Judge Mohammad Bashir at the Judicial Complex.

Two more witnesses are set to record their statements before the Accountability Court with reference to this case, Masood Ghani of Habib Bank and Allied Bank’s Abdul Rahman Gondal.

Dar’s legal team informed court that Khawaja Harris, Dar’s senior counsel was out of country and could not ensure his presence in the honorable judge’s court.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor remarked that Khawaja is not serious about the case, in reply to which Dar’s junior counsel disagreed and pleaded before the judge to have the witnesses statements recorded.

The junior counsel also asked court to adjourn the hearing till October 25 as that is the day when Dar’s senior counsel Khawaja Harris is expected to return back to Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Accountability Court has previously recorded the statements of Bank Alfalah’s Ishtiaq Ali, Shahid Aziz National Investment Trust and Tariq Javed who is associated with Al Baraka Bank.
