Karachi airspace fully restored: flights resume at Jinnah international airport

Published on: May 9, 2025 2:05 PM

KARACHI, Pakistan – After hours of disruption, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has announced that flight operations at Jinnah International Airport have resumed. The restoration of Karachi’s airspace late on Thursday night came as a relief for passengers and airlines alike.

According to the PAA, all commercial and international flights operating through Karachi are now cleared to resume. The authority assured the public that all major airports across Pakistan, including Lahore and Islamabad, remained operational throughout the airspace closure.

In a statement released by the PAA, passengers are urged to contact their respective airlines for updated flight schedules and information. The disruption had caused considerable inconvenience, with many flights delayed or diverted to other airports.

This restoration is a welcome sign of returning normalcy after the temporary airspace restrictions, which were imposed due to security concerns. As the airspace opens again, airlines are working to adjust their operations and ensure minimal disruption for travelers.

The PAA also emphasized that the situation is now under control, and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of air traffic. Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their airlines for real-time updates and flight rebookings.

In conclusion, Karachi’s airspace reopening marks a significant step towards normalcy in aviation operations. Travelers who were affected by the temporary suspension can now look forward to resumed flights and updated schedules.
