The recent avalanche of explosive accusations against one major movie mogul who takes on the name Harvey Weinstein, has opened a Pandora’s Box of Hollywood harassment and hypocrisy. Similar scandals have surfaced to the forefront and spread like wildfire, amongst which is the recent and much talked about tale of the I Am Sam star Sean Penn’s awkward rendezvous with notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. Ever since 2015, it has in fact, reached one of the most dramatic twists.
The sultry Mexican diva who organized the stage for a controversial meeting between the drug lord and Penn revealed just recently that she was involved in sexual relations with the Oscar winner.
“I never fell for him. We had sex,” former soap star Kate del Castillo said in conversation with Good Morning America while she commented on her dynamics with Penn – claiming that there was no relationship.
“We’re both adults, single and something was going on, but that was it. It was business,” shared the soap star, as reported by pagesix.com.
Kate Del Castillo, initially rumored to have had a fling with El Chapo, revealed that she instead shared a cozy affair with Penn (the powerhouse film performer) during his misguided attempt to interview the infamous and highly dangerous Sinaloa cartel don.
“They were all thinking I had something to do with El Chapo and nobody asked me [about Penn] — and I’m not bragging about that,” she said in confession. “It was all so stupid.”
The actress went on a public spree with the dalliance after Pen made attempts to stop Netflix from streaming her three-part documentary that shed light on the meeting.
Del Castillo’s documentary, The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate del Castillo Story revolves around the secret setup between Penn and El Chapo wining and dining together as the Mystic River actor lures her towards him.
When inquired upon her extremely long wait before she came out in the open about the fling, the feisty actress said that “nobody had asked her.”
He said, ‘That moment when you touched my chest, I knew something would happen between us,” Del Castillo recalls an excited Penn telling her in the documentary, the Daily Mail reported.
“We were very moved so [it] made sense that something would happen,” the actress added when she got back from the meeting.
The actor has been fighting the release of the documentary as he believes that its emancipation will put him in harm’s way. Penn is also in a fit about allegations that he tipped off US authorities about Chapo’s whereabouts who was captured three months later following his meeting with Penn in the jungle.
Netflix executives have also been confronted by Penn’s lawyers and been told that “blood will be on their hands” if the series is aired.
“This is nothing but a cheap, National Enquirer-esque tale spun be a delusional person whose hunger for fame is both tawdry and transparent,” Penn’s spokesperson said about the film that premiered on Friday.
“It is reprehensible that, in their ongoing, relentless efforts to gain additional attention and publicity, Ms del Castillo and her team who have zero firsthand knowledge have sought to create this profoundly false, foolish and reckless narrative.”
Penn’s version of the meeting in question was published in Rolling Stone magazine one day after the drug lord’s arrest.
