Massive smoke rises over central Israel after Iranian missile strike

Published on: June 17, 2025 2:34 PM

A huge cloud of black smoke rose from Herzliya, a city in central Israel, on Tuesday morning after an Iranian missile attack. The attack caused significant damage and sparked air raid sirens across the region.

Residents in Tel Aviv heard multiple explosions as sirens blared early in the morning. In Herzliya, damaged buses and deep craters were visible from a parking lot near the area where thick smoke poured into the sky.

Israeli police confirmed property damage in central Israel but did not specify which sites were hit. Local media reported the ongoing impact and police presence near the affected locations.

Missile smoke trails were seen over Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, adding to the tension. The Israeli army stated its defense systems were actively intercepting incoming missiles launched from Iran.

This missile strike is part of an escalating conflict that began early Friday when Israel launched surprise attacks killing top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Israel claims control over Iranian airspace and plans to intensify the campaign.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials reported 224 deaths, mostly civilians, while Israel confirmed 24 civilian casualties. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said nearly 3,000 Israelis have been evacuated due to damage caused by Iranian missile strikes.
