Published on: June 20, 2025 9:01 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on a phone call. He stressed the need for a peaceful solution to the growing tension between Iran and Israel. Shehbaz said Pakistan is ready to support any peace efforts in the Middle East. He also sent his best wishes to President Donald Trump during the call.

During their conversation, the Prime Minister praised Rubio’s efforts to prevent a possible war between Pakistan and India. He said Pakistan wants peace in South Asia and is open to meaningful talks with India. He also mentioned that all key matters, including Kashmir, water sharing, trade, and terrorism, should be discussed. According to him, honest dialogue is the only way forward.

Moreover, PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan is committed to ending terrorism from its soil. He repeated the country’s firm stance against groups like BLA and TTP. In response, Rubio praised Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts. He assured full US support to fight all types of terrorist threats in the region.

The leaders also discussed ways to improve ties between Pakistan and the US. PM Shehbaz suggested stronger cooperation in trade, energy, IT, and minerals. He called Field Marshal Asim Munir’s meeting with Trump positive. Both sides agreed to turn their partnership into real, on-ground cooperation. Shehbaz also invited Trump and Rubio to visit Pakistan.

Rubio appreciated Pakistan’s role in keeping peace through its strong ties with Iran. He said the US will continue working closely with Pakistan to bring peace and stability in the region. Both countries promised to support each other in regional and global matters.
