KP police goes high-tech with powerful anti-drone system

Published on: June 25, 2025 10:14 PM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police has successfully acquired state-of-the-art anti-drone technology to counter growing drone threats. According to official sources, the police force can now detect and neutralize terrorist drones from miles away. This move marks a significant step in enhancing the province’s security infrastructure.

The newly introduced anti-drone system will be used to protect key government buildings, sensitive events, and VIPs. It is designed to detect unauthorized drones in real-time and disable them before they can cause harm. The system will also be deployed during major religious gatherings, including Muharram processions, to ensure crowd safety.

In recent years, terrorists have used drones in attacks, particularly in North Waziristan and other southern districts of KP. Drones were also used during Pakistan-India tensions, making this new system a critical addition to the country’s defense strategy. The KP Police aims to stay ahead of such threats by adopting smart surveillance tools.

Inspector General of KP Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, told Geo News that the department is working on obtaining even more advanced technology. He said that efforts are ongoing to equip the police force with modern weapons and tools to match evolving security challenges.

With the introduction of this anti-drone technology, the KP Police has taken a bold step toward modern policing. The focus remains on public safety and swift response to aerial threats, especially during sensitive times like Muharram.
