CJP Yahya Afridi makes first official visit to Quetta

Published on: July 14, 2025 6:31 PM

Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi arrived in Quetta on Monday for his first official visit since assuming the country’s top judicial post. His arrival at the Supreme Court Registry was marked by a formal welcome from senior court officials.

Strict security arrangements were made throughout the city, with law enforcement agencies deployed at key locations to ensure a smooth and safe visit. This high-level visit highlights the judiciary’s commitment to addressing legal matters in all provinces.

During his stay, two benches of the Supreme Court began hearing various cases at the Quetta Registry. Chief Justice Afridi is heading Bench No. 1, alongside Justice Shakeel Ahmed, while Bench No. 2 includes Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Musarrat Hilali.

The benches are hearing cases of different types, reflecting the diverse legal concerns of the region. These include civil, criminal, and constitutional matters that are pending before the apex court.

This visit also emphasizes the Supreme Court’s effort to decentralize hearings and improve access to justice across Pakistan. It provides an opportunity for local litigants and lawyers to engage directly with the highest court without traveling to Islamabad.

Chief Justice Afridi’s presence in Quetta is seen as a strong gesture of inclusion, signaling that the Supreme Court values the concerns of all provinces equally in its pursuit of justice.
