August 14: SBP closed for Pakistan’s independence day

Published on: August 11, 2025 3:53 PM

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will remain closed on Thursday, August 14, 2025. The closure is due to the national Independence Day holiday. The announcement was made in an official statement released on Monday.

According to the SBP, the holiday has been declared by the Government of Pakistan. All operations, including banking services and transactions, will remain suspended for the day. Normal banking activities will resume on Friday, August 15.

The public is advised to plan their financial matters accordingly. Businesses and account holders are expected to adjust any transactions ahead of the holiday. This is part of routine national observance across government offices.

August 14 marks the day Pakistan gained independence in 1947. The country celebrates it each year with public holidays, events, and official ceremonies. All major institutions, including the SBP, close operations to commemorate the occasion.

The SBP has also issued reminders through its official platforms. Customers are encouraged to use digital banking services where possible. Emergency financial services will resume after the holiday.
