Imaan Mazari submits plea for saving recording of her argument with IHC CJ

Published on: September 14, 2025 1:38 AM

In an important development following an exchange of hot words between Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar and rights activist and lawyer Advocate Imaan Mazari, the latter on Saturday submitted an application to the court registrar, requesting him to save the CCTV footage of the incident that took place in the courtroom number 1 on September 11.

The lawyer also requested that she be also provided a copy of the footage. Imaan also submitted a USB along with the application.

The IHC CJ had on Thursday warned Imaan of a contempt of court case for allegedly calling him a “dictator”.

A heated exchange between the two took place during the hearing of a plea filed on behalf of Baloch nationalist Dr. Mahrang Baloch, who has been in custody since March. The petitioner had sought the removal of Mahrang’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Mazari was representing her in the court, when, at one point, the IHC chief justice remarked, “If I issue any order in this case, then Miss Mazari would go downstairs and hold a programme, saying that a dictator is sitting here.”
