Spanish cellist Aldo Mata and pianist Qi Shen perform at Alhamra

Published on: October 2, 2025 12:13 AM

The Lahore Arts Council, in partnership with the Embassy of Spain, hosted an inspiring evening of classical music at the Alhamra Arts Centre, the Mall, where celebrated Spanish cellist Aldo Mata and distinguished pianist Qi Shen performed before an appreciative audience.

The program opened with welcoming remarks by Chairman Alhamra, Razi Ahmed, who extended a warm greeting to the distinguished guests, artists and music enthusiasts. He noted that cultural exchange events like these are essential for deepening mutual understanding between nations, enhancing bilateral ties, and projecting Pakistan’s vibrant soft image globally. “Alhamra is proud to stand as an international platform for meaningful cultural collaborations. We firmly believe that such artistic dialogues bring people closer, foster goodwill and present Pakistan’s cultural spirit with dignity and pride to the world,” he said.

The concert featured a rich repertoire of classical pieces, including David Popper’s “Hungarian Rhapsody” and Manuel de Falla’s “El Paño Moruno.” With profound artistry, Aldo Mata’s soulful cello and Qi Shen’s expressive piano performance created a rare harmony that resonated deeply with the audience. Each composition unfolded with emotion and finesse, reflecting the timeless universality of music.

The evening drew over 250 lovers of classical music, who responded with admiration and heartfelt applause. The event stood as a shining example of how cultural exchange enriches both nations and strengthens the artistic bridge between Pakistan and Spain.

Alhamra, through collaborations of this nature, continues to uphold its mission of nurturing international cultural partnerships while offering the people of Lahore opportunities to experience world-class art at their very doorstep.
