Pakistan mourns cricket legend Wazir Mohammad

Former Pakistani Test cricketer Wazir Mohammad passed away on Monday in Birmingham. He was 95 years old. His nephew Shoaib Mohammad confirmed the news. The cricketing community mourned the loss of one of Pakistan’s earliest Test players. Wazir Mohammad played a vital role in Pakistan’s cricket history.

He made his Test debut in 1952 during Pakistan’s first tour of India. He was part of the original squad that helped establish Pakistan in international cricket. Over the years, he became known for his calm and steady batting style. His performances built a strong foundation for the team.

Wazir Mohammad played 20 Test matches for Pakistan. He scored 801 runs, including two centuries and three half-centuries. His highest score came against New Zealand. His contributions helped shape the future of Pakistan cricket during its early years.

He came from a legendary cricketing family. His brothers Hanif Mohammad and Mushtaq Mohammad also played for Pakistan. Together, they inspired generations of young cricketers. The Mohammad family remains one of the most respected names in Pakistan cricket.

Fans, former players, and officials paid tribute to Wazir Mohammad’s legacy. His death marks the end of an era. Funeral details are yet to be announced. Cricket lovers will always remember him for his discipline and dedication to the game.
