No protests in Karachi, don’t believe rumors, says police

Published on: October 13, 2025 4:52 PM

Karachi Police on Monday dismissed all reports of citywide protests, calling them false and misleading. Authorities assured citizens that no demonstrations are taking place anywhere in the city. They also urged people not to panic or believe rumors being spread through social media and messaging apps.

In response to calls for protest by a religious group, police deployed heavy forces across key areas. Section 144 is currently enforced in the city, which bans all public gatherings and protests. Police warned of strict legal action against anyone found violating the law.

Some areas experienced brief confusion when shops were shut down due to protest fears. However, police confirmed that businesses were closed by owners based on misinformation, not due to actual unrest. Officials said such rumors are aimed at creating unnecessary fear among the public.

Police also responded to a minor protest attempt near Sindhi Hotel in New Karachi. The crowd was quickly dispersed, and ten people involved in the disturbance were taken into custody. Law enforcement later reopened roads and restored normal traffic flow in the area.

Karachi Police emphasized that the city remains peaceful and under control. They encouraged citizens to verify news from official sources and avoid sharing unconfirmed reports. Authorities remain on alert and ready to respond to any threats to public order.
