MUMBAI – Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha has revealed that her belief in the “evil eye” was the reason she chose to keep her relationship with actor Zaheer Iqbal private until their wedding.
Speaking candidly about her love life on a talk show, the Heeramandi star shared that she preferred to stay away from public scrutiny while dating. “I have kept my relationships under wraps because thoda nazar I believe in,” Sonakshi said. “Honestly, I didn’t want it to be public until I knew I was actually going to marry this person, which happened with Zaheer.”
Sonakshi and Zaheer tied the knot on June 23, 2024, in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai home after dating for several years. Reflecting on their connection, she said their bond was instant and deeply genuine. “When I saw him, it was an instant click. I just knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this guy,” she recalled.

The Double XL actor humorously shared that she confessed her love within a week of meeting Zaheer, leaving him both shocked and amused. “He called up his best friend and said, ‘Listen, I think she’s confused, she’s nuts!’” she laughed.
Sonakshi added that within a month of meeting Zaheer, she told him she wanted to marry him — a promise that came true seven years later. “I have never felt like that with anybody else,” she said. “When I did, I didn’t hide it. If he ran away, he ran away — but clearly, he didn’t. It worked out well.”
