Residents of Karachi felt minor earthquake tremors across several areas on Friday. The Pakistan Meteorological Department reported the tremors measured 2.2 on the Richter scale. The tremors struck at 3:39 PM and lasted for a few seconds. Authorities confirmed that the earthquake originated 24 kilometers north of DHA at a depth of 10 kilometers. Many people reported feeling the ground shake slightly, but no damage occurred.
This is not the first tremor in Karachi this month. On 1 October, the Malir area experienced stronger tremors. That earthquake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at 9:34 AM. Its center was located 7 kilometers northwest of Malir at a depth of 10 kilometers. Residents said they felt shaking in buildings, and some panicked, but no injuries were reported.

Experts explain that Karachi lies in a region with low to moderate seismic activity. However, occasional tremors can occur due to shifts in underground fault lines. City officials confirmed that emergency services are on standby. They stated that regular monitoring continues across Karachi and surrounding areas. Teams will assess any potential damage immediately after stronger tremors. Residents are also advised to report any unusual activity or signs of damage to authorities.
