Pakistan’s maritime exhibition highlights local defence innovations

Published on: November 6, 2025 3:11 PM

Pakistan's maritime technology attracts large number of firms at PIMEC-2025

KARACHI – The second Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC-2025) continued for a third day on Wednesday at the Expo Centre, showcasing Pakistan’s growing prowess in maritime technology and defence innovation. Jointly organized by the Pakistan Navy and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, the event drew strong participation from both national and international organizations.

A highlight of the exhibition was the display of the indigenously developed Buraq Vehicle, designed for safe evacuation from combat zones. Entirely made in Pakistan, the vehicle reflects the nation’s increasing engineering capabilities and self-reliance in defence production.

Prominent institutions, including the Ministry of Defence Production, Net Med, and various universities, showcased state-of-the-art maritime research and technological models. The Directorate General of Research and Development’s (DG R&D) stall attracted attention with modern defence gear, night vision devices, and maritime security equipment.

The Gwadar Shipyard — a key CPEC project — also featured prominently, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its maritime infrastructure. On Tuesday, Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori visited the drone show, praising Pakistan’s potential in exporting locally made defence technologies.
