Miss Universe official dismissed after 'malicious acts'
BANGKOK – The upcoming Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, scheduled for November 21, has been overshadowed by controversy after host Nawat Itsaragrisil allegedly insulted Mexico’s contestant, Fatima Bosch.

Miss Universe President Raúl Rocha announced in a video on Instagram that Nawat has been barred from participating in this year’s events. “I will not allow the values of respect and dignity toward women to be violated,” Rocha said. He also confirmed that corporate and legal actions would follow for the host’s “malicious acts.”

The incident unfolded during a livestreamed meeting where Nawat reportedly called Miss Mexico a “dumbhead” over a dispute regarding her social media promotions. The confrontation prompted Bosch to stage a dramatic walkout in her evening gown and high heels, drawing international attention and criticism, including from Mexico’s president.

Over 120 contestants from around the world are competing in the 74th Miss Universe pageant, considered one of the “big four” global beauty contests. However, the pre-pageant activities have been dominated by off-stage drama involving both contestants and hosts, raising concerns over respect and conduct in the competition.
