Islamabad judicial complex reopens under tight security after blast

Published on: November 13, 2025 12:32 PM

Judicial Complex reopens after Islamabad suicide blast
ISLAMABAD: The Federal Judicial Complex reopened on Wednesday under heightened security following a deadly suicide blast outside the Islamabad district courts earlier this week. The attack claimed at least 12 lives and left over 20 people injured.

Authorities have implemented strict entry measures, allowing lawyers’ clerks only after presenting official identification and permitting litigants inside after security checks and registration of their details. Despite the tense environment, a large number of lawyers and court visitors have returned to the complex.

The Islamabad Bar Association announced a strike for Wednesday and Thursday in protest of the attack. The blast had caused a car to catch fire, engulfing the vehicle in flames and damaging nearby motorcycles and parked cars. Rescue teams transferred the injured to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, with several reported in critical condition.

Police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Officials recovered body parts believed to belong to the suicide bomber from the site. IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and the Chief Commissioner visited the scene and were briefed on the ongoing inquiry.
