Published on: November 17, 2025 8:00 PM

Muzaffarabad: Azad Kashmir’s Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was removed after a successful no-confidence vote. Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore was elected the new prime minister. The motion passed with overwhelming support in the assembly session.

The no-confidence motion was presented during a session of the Azad Kashmir Assembly chaired by Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar. Faisal Mumtaz Rathore was nominated as the alternative leader of the house, replacing Anwar-ul-Haq. The session witnessed heated debates over leadership accountability.

Raja Faisal Rathore secured 36 votes in favor, while only two members voted against him. The motion was spearheaded by Sardar Javed Ayub, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, and other key lawmakers. The vote reflected growing discontent with Anwar-ul-Haq’s administration.

Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq addressed the assembly, arguing that no single person could bear full responsibility for administrative failures. He urged recognition of collective cabinet accountability and questioned the fairness of the process. His remarks highlighted political tensions within the ruling structure.
