FAISALABAD: Four people were killed on Friday after a boiler exploded at a factory in Malikpur, Faisalabad, causing the roofs of the factory and nearby structures to collapse, officials said.

Rescue 1122 reported that the incident occurred in Shahab Town, near Kabbadi Stadium. Seven people were pulled from the rubble, four of whom died on the spot, while a rescue operation continues under the supervision of the district emergency officer, involving more than 20 ambulances and fire tenders. Videos from the site showed rescue teams combing through debris for survivors.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar directed that Rescue 1122, the fire brigade, and all relevant agencies be provided full support. He also instructed traffic police to ensure clear access to the site for emergency vehicles.

The blast follows a similar incident in April last year when a steam boiler exploded at a Faisalabad textile mill, injuring a dozen workers and collapsing part of the factory roof. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the current explosion.
