Sindh’s senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged the World Bank to support the Karachi Circular Railway and Karachi-Sukkur High-Speed Train projects. He said these initiatives could be game changers for the province’s transport system and urban mobility. Memon called for timely and increased assistance to ensure project completion and efficiency.
The appeal came during a meeting in Karachi with a visiting World Bank delegation. Discussions focused on improving urban mobility, strengthening transport networks, and evaluating different project models. Memon highlighted the importance of coordinated planning between federal and provincial authorities to maximize public benefit.

He cited the Yellow Line BRT as an example of decisions made with citizens’ interests in mind. Memon emphasized that World Bank support would help replicate such successes in other major transport projects. He stressed that international funding and expertise could accelerate timelines and improve overall system performance.
Memon also mentioned the Green Line BRT, recently transferred from the federal government to Sindh administration. Daily ridership has increased by 33,000 under provincial management, reflecting improved service and operational efficiency. He urged similar support for the Karachi Circular Railway to boost connectivity across the city.

The minister concluded by stressing that Karachi-Sukkur High-Speed Train and Circular Railway projects are critical for regional economic growth. He expressed confidence that with World Bank collaboration, these initiatives could transform Sindh’s urban transport landscape.
