China urges probe after deadly attack on its citizens in Tajikistan

Published on: November 28, 2025 4:35 PM

China has urged Tajik authorities to investigate an attack that killed three Chinese citizens and injured one. The incident occurred near the Afghan border in southwestern Khatlon province on Wednesday evening. The Chinese embassy has ordered its citizens to evacuate border areas immediately for safety.

Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry said the attack targeted a company named LLC Shahn SM. All three victims were employees of the company, and the assailants used drones equipped with grenades. The ministry noted that the attack came from Afghan territory, but did not identify the perpetrators.

The Chinese embassy demanded a detailed investigation into the incident. It also emphasized the need to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals working in Tajikistan. Officials have not yet indicated who may be responsible for the attack.

So far, Afghan authorities have not issued any statement regarding the incident. China’s warning highlights rising concerns over cross-border attacks and the safety of foreign workers in the region. The embassy’s evacuation order aims to prevent further casualties near the border.
