PPP holds nationwide events to celebrate 58 years

Published on: November 30, 2025 1:37 PM

The Pakistan Peoples Party is marking its 58th Foundation Day today with district-level gatherings across the country and a major rally planned in Karachi’s Korangi area. Party workers have prepared large displays, flags and stages as they gear up for celebrations highlighting decades of political struggle and achievements.

The PPP was founded in Lahore on November 30, 1967, with Zulfikar Ali Bhutto elected as its first chairman. The slogan “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” quickly resonated with the public, helping the party secure a sweeping victory in West Pakistan during the 1970 general elections and establishing it as a major national force.

Throughout its 58-year journey, the party has experienced major political challenges, especially during the regimes of Gen Zia and Gen Musharraf. However, PPP leaders emphasize historic accomplishments such as the approval of a unified constitution, the launch of the nuclear programme and progress toward greater provincial autonomy.

Moreover, PPP Karachi Division President Saeed Ghani said the party opened political doors for the common man after decades of elitist control. He added that the Foundation Day celebrations would be held in an impressive manner to honor the party’s legacy and its continued connection with the masses.

Additionally, Karachi Mayor and provincial spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab said the PPP’s bond with the people has always remained strong and will continue to shape its future direction. He stressed that the party’s public support reflects its long-standing commitment to social justice and democratic values.

Preparations for the Korangi rally are in full swing with party flags displayed across the city. Bilawal Bhutto, alongside senior party leaders from both central and provincial tiers, is scheduled to address supporters and highlight the party’s vision for the coming years.
