During the meeting, PM Shehbaz also approved a comprehensive plan to permanently address electricity challenges in Gwadar Port City. He instructed all institutions to work in close coordination to ensure reliable and affordable power, calling uninterrupted energy supply essential for boosting national economic activity and investment in the region.

Appreciating the recommendations of Ahsan Iqbal’s committee and the Ministry of Energy, the prime minister directed the ministry to ensure effective implementation of immediate, short-term, and long-term reforms. He noted that improved infrastructure and uninterrupted electricity would help transform Gwadar into a world-class port and a future hub of regional trade.

Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari informed the meeting that power disruptions in Gwadar had already been reduced by 42% due to prompt actions by the ministry. He added that a plan was underway to stabilize voltage levels within six months.

Among short-term measures, 9.7 MW of solar capacity will be installed in major government institutions over the next 8–12 months. In the long term, a 40 MW project will support sustainable electricity supply for Gwadar’s growing industrial and urban demands.
