Maryam Nawaz launches beautification plan

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the first phase of the Punjab Beautification Plan. The initiative will run from February to May 2026.

In a special meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz reviewed detailed briefings on projects across all districts, tehsils, and cities. The plan includes 132 schemes costing PKR 16.9 billion.

Out of these, 97 projects already have work orders issued, and 88 schemes have started. Key cities like Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad will see extensive improvements.

The CM directed that projects focus on restoring historical gates, installing fountains, artificial waterfalls, green belts, and tensile structures along city roads.

Pavements will be upgraded with vibrant tiles, while commercial markets will receive aesthetic enhancements. The goal is to create attractive and functional public spaces.

A dedicated dashboard will track weekly progress, and Assistant Commissioners will be held accountable. Open manholes, broken roads, garbage, and faded paint will face strict action.

Specific targets include restoring Baba Farid Gate and Al-Sadiq Mosque in Bahawalpur, upgrading Faisalabad Clock Tower, and transforming markets in Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Rawalpindi.
