KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday inspected the long-delayed Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line projects from Malir Cantonment to Numaish and directed authorities to expedite the pace of work. The inspection was part of a broader citywide visit to review major development and transport infrastructure schemes.

During the visit, the chief minister reviewed progress on several key projects, including Shahrah-i-Bhutto, the Korangi Causeway Bridge Junction, Malir River bridges and flyovers in Malir. He also inspected ongoing work on the BRT Red and Green Line corridors to assess implementation challenges.
Accompanied by Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and senior officials, Mr Shah received detailed briefings from relevant departments and project authorities. Officials informed him that delays in the Red Line project were caused by heavy rains, relocation of utilities and design changes.

Emphasising public convenience, the chief minister said development projects must be completed at the earliest with minimal disruption to citizens. He directed authorities to facilitate local communities and traders while strictly adhering to environmental and safety standards.
Highlighting the significance of the Red Line, Mr Shah said the project aimed to provide fast, safe and environmentally friendly transport to Karachi’s residents. He described the BRT system as a transformative initiative for daily commuting in the city.
Reviewing work on the Green Line at M.A. Jinnah Road, he instructed officials to accelerate construction without compromising safety or traffic flow. He also stressed the need for better coordination, enhanced monitoring and the use of technology to ensure timely completion.

The chief minister said Karachi’s development schemes were long-term investments for economic growth and improved quality of life. He reiterated that there would be no compromise on quality, transparency or timelines in the execution of these projects.
