Australian authorities and community sources have confirmed that the shooters involved in the deadly Bondi Beach attack were of Indian origin, dismissing widespread online claims falsely linking the incident to Pakistan.
Friends and neighbors told local media that the attackers, Naveed Akram and Sajid Akram, belonged to Indian descent, while also confirming that Naveed’s mother is of Italian heritage.

The attack targeted a Jewish event at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, resulting in 16 deaths and injuries to at least 40 people, triggering nationwide shock and an immediate security response.
Following the incident, one attacker was killed during a police operation, while the second suspect was arrested alive and remains under medical treatment at a hospital.

Meanwhile, several foreign media outlets and social media accounts attempted to associate the attack with Pakistan; however, official checks confirmed neither suspect held Pakistani nationality or records.
Authorities further clarified that visa-related claims were also incorrect, as Sajid Akram entered Australia in 1998 on a student visa, later obtaining residency through marriage, closing the door on misinformation.
