Bondi Attack Linked to ISIS Influence

Australian police say the Bondi attack targeted a Hanukkah event in Sydney. The Bondi attack killed 16 people, including one gunman. Authorities are treating it as terrorism. The incident shocked the nation.

Police said the alleged attackers were a father and son. Both had traveled to the Philippines before the attack. Investigators are examining the purpose of the trip. Philippine authorities are also cooperating.

Officials said early evidence shows inspiration from Islamic State. Police found homemade ISIS flags and explosive devices in their vehicle. The shooting lasted about ten minutes. Officers later shot both suspects.

Meanwhile, leaders condemned the violence and urged stronger protection for Jewish communities. Memorials grew at Bondi Beach as crowds mourned victims. Survivors remain hospitalized across Sydney. One civilian who disarmed a gunman is hailed as a hero.
