Sargodha division has exceeded its wheat sowing target for the current season, achieving 101.30% of the assigned goal, according to an official report released on Tuesday.
The division was tasked with cultivating wheat on 1.721 million acres, while actual sowing covered 1.743 million acres, reflecting strong performance and efficient agricultural planning.
The report highlighted a 0.15% increase in wheat cultivation compared to last year, signaling steady growth in the region’s farming sector and a positive outlook for agricultural productivity.
Officials described the achievement as a testament to effective coordination, planning, and farmer engagement throughout the sowing season.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Sargodha Division Commissioner Jahanzeb Awan were credited for facilitating the success of the operation.
Officials noted that clear directives, consistent monitoring, and administrative support played key roles in ensuring that the wheat sowing targets were not only met but exceeded.
The Agriculture Department’s strategy received wide praise for timely planning, proactive farmer outreach, and strong administrative assistance.
Local farmers’ active participation and cooperation were also instrumental in achieving the higher-than-expected sowing figures across the division.

District-wise performance showed encouraging results, with Sargodha district cultivating 546,843 acres against a target of 533,000 acres.
Khushab recorded 281,866 acres versus its 276,000-acre target, Mianwali achieved 468,183 acres over 467,000, and Bhakkar reached 446,414 acres compared to 445,000, demonstrating consistent success.
Agriculture officials stated that timely support, farmer engagement, and effective planning at divisional and district levels contributed to overall success.
The increase in wheat acreage is expected to boost production and positively impact food security throughout Punjab province in the upcoming harvest season.
