Balochistan Approves Hydroponics Technology for Farming

The Balochistan government has approved hydroponics technology to modernize agriculture. Officials aim to address severe water shortages across the province. The decision marks a major shift toward sustainable farming practices.

Hydroponics technology allows plants to grow without soil using nutrient-rich water. It helps save water and increases crop yields. The system supports year-round farming in controlled environments like greenhouses.

The approval came during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. Parliamentary leaders, ministers, and senior officials attended the session. They endorsed projects to establish hydroponic facilities in multiple districts.

Initially, the government will launch the project in 10 districts. Successful results will lead to expansion across the province. Officials expect the initiative to create jobs and support economic growth.

The meeting also reviewed irrigation and dam projects, especially Gwadar’s water crisis. The chief minister ordered faster dam construction for drinking water. He said hydroponics technology can secure Balochistan’s agricultural future.
