Prince Harry faces painful rift over children’s royal ties

Published on: December 30, 2025 10:17 PM

Prince Harry remains deeply attached to his family, yet he is forced to keep his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, away from their grandfather King Charles despite wanting them to know their royal roots.

The situation follows King Charles’ recent health update, revealing that his treatment will be reduced and move into a precautionary phase next year. Harry’s desire to reconnect with the royal family and bring his kids to the UK has intensified.

A royal source told Closer that Harry’s heartbreak is real, adding that he believes his children deserve to know their grandfather and understand their heritage, making the distance even more painful for him.

However, Meghan Markle reportedly opposes a UK return, creating a hurdle in reconciliation. This disagreement has left Harry torn between loyalty to his wife and his longing to strengthen ties with the royal family.

Neither Archie nor Lilibet has established a relationship with their grandfathers, King Charles or Thomas Markle, and this absence weighs heavily on both parents. Harry fears his children may only know their grandfather through photos and stories.

Despite publicly discussing the UK during interviews, Harry holds back tears, feeling time slip away amid his father’s unhealed cancer battle. Meanwhile, Meghan remains determined not to return to a country tied to scrutiny and past pain.
