‘Suthra Punjab’ model draws interest from Sindh, KP: Azma

Published on: January 3, 2026 1:53 AM

Punjab Minister for Information and Culture, Azma Bokhari has said that the Punjab government’s flagship “Suthra Punjab” programme has not only achieved remarkable success at the local level but is also attracting interest from other provinces and even international cities. She said that the Sindh government has expressed its desire to adopt the Suthra Punjab model, while the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is also keen to benefit from it, and the KP Chief Secretary has formally sought details of the programme.

Azma Bokhari further revealed that the Punjab government has already provided guidance on the Suthra Punjab programme to the UK city of Birmingham. She added that other successful initiatives of the Punjab government include the anti-encroachment drive, the Model Village Programme, and the Punjab Development Plan. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has already made it clear that if any province requires the feasibility or guidance of Punjab’s successful projects, Punjab is fully prepared to extend complete cooperation.

She emphasized that, as the elder brother, Punjab is ready to fully support public welfare projects in other provinces and would be pleased if the people of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also benefit from quality facilities similar to those in Punjab.

Azma Bokhari noted that the “Suthra Punjab” programme is gaining recognition at the global level, and the ultimate goal is to see all provinces become as clean and well-managed as Punjab. She stressed that instead of political bitterness, mutual blame, and abusive politics, provinces should learn from each other’s experiences for collective progress.
