According to a joint press release, the MoU marks a significant step toward improving Pakistan’s national cybersecurity posture. It focuses on cooperation in cyber threat detection, mitigation, and prevention through coordinated efforts between the two organisations.

Under the agreement, PKCERT and Kaspersky will work together on training and awareness programmes to improve cybersecurity readiness. These initiatives will target government institutions, industry, academia, and civil society to enhance overall operational capacity.

The collaboration also places emphasis on capacity building to develop a skilled cybersecurity workforce aligned with national and international standards. Both organisations will support knowledge-sharing initiatives aimed at strengthening professional expertise in the field.

The press release stated that the partnership includes the timely sharing of actionable cyber threat intelligence with relevant stakeholders across Pakistan. This exchange is intended to improve early warning mechanisms and response to emerging cyber risks.

The MoU covers a wide range of cybersecurity areas, including incident detection and response, prevention strategies, education, and research and development. It also extends to cooperation on legislative and regulatory matters related to cybersecurity.

As part of the agreement, the two sides will exchange technical information, threat intelligence, and data related to cyberattacks affecting individuals, businesses, and government institutions. Professional exchanges and joint initiatives are also included in the scope of cooperation.

The MoU was signed by PKCERT Director General Dr Haider Abbas and Kaspersky’s General Manager for the Middle East and Pakistan, Rashed Al Momani. The signing took place in the presence of Kaspersky CEO Eugene Kaspersky and IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

Speaking on the occasion, Abbas highlighted the growing cybersecurity challenges linked to digital development. Al Momani said the partnership would support Pakistan’s secure digital transformation through public-private collaboration.
