Emraan Hashmi shrugs off viral buzz over Netflix cameo

Published on: January 9, 2026 3:02 PM

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has offered a candid reaction to the viral fan frenzy surrounding his cameo in Aryan Khan’s debut Netflix series Ba**ds of Bollywood. Speaking in an interview with Galatta India, Hashmi said the online attention caught him by surprise but did little to change his everyday life.

Hashmi admitted the sudden virality felt disproportionate to his minor role in the show. “Nothing has changed for me. It suddenly blew up,” he said, adding that the cameo was only a short commitment and not something he expected to trend.

The Haq star acknowledged that popularity on social media often follows its own unpredictable rhythm. “I don’t know what it is about virality these days… I still don’t understand,” he remarked. He described the experience as confusing, yet insisted he remains unaffected by hype or criticism.

Hashmi further emphasized that he avoids attaching emotional weight to either success or failure. “I don’t get into the seriousness of success, failure, virality. I try to stay detached,” he said, noting that he learned long ago how little control artists have once a project is released.

The actor added that he prefers focusing on steady growth and dedication to the craft, rather than chasing trends or public validation. “Nothing bothers me… all you can do is work with complete dedication and grow as an actor,” he said.

In the series, Hashmi appears as an intimacy coordinator — a brief role that unexpectedly became a fan favorite due to its comedic timing and interactions with co-star Raghav Juyal. The show’s edgy premise and celebrity associations have fueled its online traction, with clips circulating widely on social platforms since release.
