At a drifting arena in Islamabad, Dina Rohinton Patel drove sideways into Pakistan’s motorsport record books, becoming the country’s first female drifter. Racing runs in Dina’s blood. She grew up in a motorsport family, watching her mother, Tushna Patel, evolve from navigator to competitor, and her father, Ronnie Patel, and build a formidable reputation on the rally circuit. From an early age, she understood that racing demanded more than skill-it required courage, focus, and trust in yourself. But her journey was never handed to her. At 16, long before she could race legally, her father handed her a car in the desert under the simple instruction to drive home. What she didn’t know was that every move was being watched. That first test of instinct, hand-eye coordination, and composure became the foundation of her career.
By 18, Dina entered professional rallying. She quickly made her mark, securing third place in the Women’s category at the 2021 Thar Jeep Rally, followed by a first-place finish at the 2022 Thar Desert Rally. In 2023, she claimed top honors at the 10th Hub Rally Cross in Balochistan, and later competed in the 2025 Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally in the Women-Prepared category, accumulating 17 rally podiums along the way. Each race built not only her skill but also her resilience, reinforcing the lesson that determination matters as much as talent.
Drifting, however, became her signature. Unlike rallying, which rewards control, drifting celebrates controlled chaos-precision while letting go. Mastering it meant unlearning years of instincts and rebuilding her driving style entirely. At the Race Wars Pakistan event in Islamabad, she progressed through technical stages to earn recognition that had never been achieved before: Pakistan’s first female drifter. It was not just a personal victory-it was a symbol of possibility for women across the country.
Dina is also the youngest FIA-licensed female racer in Pakistan, competing across multiple disciplines including rallying, drifting, karting, and autocross. Her training abroad, combined with mentorship from top racers, has refined her skills and racing mindset, helping her transform pressure into performance.
