30 additional Sahulat Bazaars to be set up across Punjab by June 30

Published on: January 19, 2026 7:20 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship Sahulat Bazaar initiative is delivering affordable, quality food items to the public, while generating employment opportunities for thousands of people across the province.

According to a briefing given to the Chief Minister, here on Sunday, 46 Sahulat Bazaars established across Punjab have so far provided decent employment to 9,200 individuals, benefiting nearly 55,000 family members. The project has emerged as a dual-impact initiative by easing inflationary pressures on consumers and creating sustainable livelihoods for the unemployed.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that more than 85 million people have visited Sahulat Bazaars over the past year, making purchases worth Rs425 million. Thirteen essential food items, including vegetables and fruits, were being sold at wholesale rates, resulting in cumulative savings of approximately Rs110 million for consumers.

The briefing added that Sahulat Bazaars were currently operational in several cities, including Wazirabad, Chunian, Jaranwala, Chiniot, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Pattoki, Okara and Muzaffargarh, where citizens were being provided quality commodities at affordable prices.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has set a target to complete 30 additional Sahulat Bazaars across the province by June 30. She directed the relevant authorities to expedite efforts to gradually establish convenience markets in every tehsil of Punjab.

Expressing satisfaction over the performance of the project, the Chief Minister said Sahulat Bazaars made affordable and quality food items accessible to the public. She reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring the availability of reasonably priced, quality goods for every citizen of Punjab.

A historic stride toward convenience and affordability, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s first-ever digital home delivery program via the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars app has set new records by delivering essential goods across the province, with 13 basic food items priced up to 7% below the officially notified DC rates.

Citizens, while speaking to PTV News, applauded and thanked Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif for the historic digital home delivery program via the Sahulat Bazaars app.

Muhammad Tahir, a resident of Lodhran Punjab said the service helps people save money, reduces travel and fuel costs, and brings essential items directly to their doorsteps, making daily life easier for everyone.

The programme’s primary aim is to provide direct relief to citizens by ensuring timely delivery of daily necessities at affordable prices, said another citizen Imran, adding, many praised the initiative as a groundbreaking step toward convenience, affordability and transparency in Punjab’s essential goods distribution system.

Mubashar Ahmad, Incharge of Sahulat Bazaar Lodhran, also praised the doorstep delivery facility, highlighting that the service is currently active in 35 cities through 46 Sahulat Bazaars.

He described it as a landmark initiative that is transforming the way citizens access essential food items, bringing convenience and affordability directly to their homes.

The Punjab Sahulat Bazaars Authority (PSBA) has successfully completed free home delivery of more than 301,200 orders of essential food items across the province, under the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The initiative is already setting records in reach and efficiency, making it one of the largest digital home delivery programs in Punjab’s history, said another citizen.

Citizens can now place orders through a dedicated free home delivery mobile app, available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, while PSBA riders ensure fast and reliable doorstep delivery.

Shazia Bibi, a resident of Faisalabad, said the service is a great help, noting that it saves money and also reduces travel time and fuel costs. Items available through the program include potatoes, onions, tomatoes, pumpkin, garlic, apples, bananas, dates, lemons, guava, watermelon, chickpeas, gram flour (besan), wheat flour and sugar.

The government is shielding the public from the effects of inflation and has announced plans to gradually expand the free home delivery project to more cities across Punjab, said Ali Hassan, a resident of Multan.

He added that the initiative is a historic step in making daily necessities affordable and easily accessible, praising the Punjab Sahulat Bazaars for their efficient and reliable service.
