QUETTA: Six proclaimed offenders affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) — referred to locally as Fitna al Khawarij — were killed during an operation in Pishin, the Balochistan Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Tuesday.

DIG Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya, head of the CTD, said the operation began at around 7am on Monday and concluded at 4:30pm. Authorities are continuing searches to apprehend accomplices who escaped during the operation.

The slain militants included gang leader Sanaullah Agha, his two brothers, and three associates. They were wanted in at least 15 cases involving murder, kidnapping for ransom, terrorist activities, and the abduction of women. A significant cache of weapons, including rocket launchers, RPGs, hand grenades, and explosives, was recovered from their hideout.
DIG Goraya detailed that local elders had approached the CTD prior to the firefight, stating that the suspects wished to surrender. A 15-minute negotiation window was provided, but two individuals sent for talks reportedly handed weapons to the militants, prompting an encounter. All six offenders were killed, while 10 CTD personnel sustained minor injuries.
The recovered weapons are being sent for forensic analysis. Investigations are ongoing into reports that explosives, originally issued to mining companies, were being diverted to terrorist groups. An FIR has also been registered in Khuzdar, with authorities gathering evidence regarding a recent suicide attack in Nokundi.

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Political and Media Affairs Shahid Rind said the provincial government maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward terrorists and their facilitators. “Armed resistance will be met firmly, but those surrendering will be dealt with according to law,” he said, adding that tangible results of government actions should become visible in the coming months.
