Trump told reporters that “very big, very powerful ships” are sailing toward Iran and that it would be better if they were not used. He did not provide details on timing, participants, or the scope of the potential talks. U.S. officials said no military action has been finalized.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth confirmed the military is ready to act on the president’s orders. Trump’s statements come after previous U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and sanctions following a bloody crackdown on protests in Iran.
Meanwhile, Tehran continues to emphasise defense readiness over negotiations. Iranian negotiator Kazem Gharibabadi said the country prioritizes military preparedness. Iran’s army also announced 1,000 new strategic drones for combat, reconnaissance, and cyber operations. Commander Amir Hamati vowed decisive response to any aggression.
