Punjab–Balochistan routes sealed over security alert

Published on: February 1, 2026 2:01 PM

Authorities have closed all routes linking Punjab to Balochistan through Dera Ghazi Khan after heightened security concerns, suspending passenger movement to prevent potential threats and maintain stability.

Officials confirmed that major highways, including the Fort Munro route and the Taunsa–Musa Khel Road, remain shut until further notice, directly affecting interprovincial travel and transport activities.

Meanwhile, traffic has also been stopped at sensitive border points such as Bawata and Sakhi Sarwar, as officials intensified monitoring to restrict cross-boundary movement during the security alert.

The decision follows successful counter-terrorism actions in several Balochistan cities, where security forces foiled multiple attacks and killed 92 terrorists, including three suicide bombers, during operations.

Authorities described the closures as precautionary steps, adding that routes will reopen once conditions improve, while citizens have been advised to cooperate for ensuring public safety.
