Punjab CM pays tribute to Kashmiri martyrs

Published on: February 6, 2026 2:31 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on Kashmir Solidarity Day, said that the love for Kashmir runs like blood through the heart of every Pakistani. She paid rich tribute to the Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives to keep the flame of the right to self-determination alive. The chief minister said that the Kashmiri people, who have been bravely resisting Indian oppression for more than seven decades, deserved salute and respect. She said Indian brutality had turned the heaven-like valley into a prison. Calling upon the international community, she urged the United Nations and other global institutions to play their lawful role against human rights violations in Indian-occupied Kashmir. She said that lasting peace in the region would remain a distant dream until a permanent resolution of the Kashmir issue is achieved. She reiterated that the sacrifices of the oppressed Kashmiri people would not go in vain. The chief minister said Pakistan would continue to extend diplomatic, political and moral support to the Kashmiri people. She reaffirmed that Pakistan would keep raising its voice in favour of the Kashmiri people at every international forum. Expressing optimism, she said that, God willing, the people of Kashmir would soon witness the dawn of freedom.
