Non-bailable warrants for Aleema Khan in Nov 26 case

Published on: February 10, 2026 4:00 PM

A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Aleema Khan over her absence in a November 26 protest case. The court noted she and her counsel failed to appear without justification or exemption. The warrants mark a strict step in ongoing proceedings.

Special Prosecutor Zaheer Shah appeared before the court with his team during the hearing. The prosecution requested the inclusion of NCCIA Assistant Director Salman Niaz in the list of witnesses. The court approved the request, expanding the scope of testimony in the case.

The November 26 case is linked to protests that drew attention nationwide. Aleema Khan’s absence prompted the ATC to take strict action. Court officials emphasized that attendance is mandatory and non-negotiable under current legal provisions.

The next hearing of the case has been adjourned for one day. The court will resume proceedings with the updated witness list. Authorities said the development ensures procedural compliance and accountability.

Legal experts say non-bailable warrants reflect seriousness in handling high-profile protest cases. Observers note that inclusion of NCCIA officials as witnesses may strengthen the prosecution’s evidence. The case remains under close public and media scrutiny.
