Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the international community to work collectively toward a credible pathway for Palestinian self-determination, saying durable peace in the Middle East depends on ending occupation and restoring Palestinian sovereignty.

Addressing the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, the premier said the Palestinian people had endured decades of illegal occupation and immense suffering. He stressed that lasting peace requires an immediate end to ceasefire violations to protect civilian lives and enable reconstruction in conflict-affected areas.
Shehbaz Sharif said Palestinians must exercise full control over their land and future in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. He reiterated Pakistan’s support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine through a negotiated settlement based on international law.

The prime minister also expressed hope that under the leadership of US President Donald Trump the international community could achieve a just and lasting resolution of the Palestinian issue. He praised what he described as Trump’s diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalating global conflicts.
Referring to South Asia, Shehbaz Sharif said Trump’s timely intervention had helped secure a ceasefire between Pakistan and India, potentially averting large-scale human losses. He added that coordinated global efforts were essential to address protracted conflicts and humanitarian crises.
Earlier at the same forum, Trump said US allies had contributed more than $7 billion to relief efforts in Gaza. He also voiced optimism that the Palestinian militant group Hamas could eventually disarm as part of a broader peace process.

The Board of Peace meeting brought together policymakers and stakeholders to discuss conflict resolution and humanitarian stabilization, with a particular focus on the Middle East and other regions facing prolonged instability.
