KP govt refutes ex-CM security claim

Published on: February 24, 2026 10:15 PM

Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur said he will not accept any security allegedly withdrawn by the provincial government. Gandapur made the statement in a message shared on PTI’s parliamentary party WhatsApp group. The development matters because it sparked confusion over the security arrangements for a former top official, affecting both Gandapur and his security personnel.

Gandapur claimed that late at night, the Deputy CSO of the Chief Minister called his security staff and instructed them to “close down” on the orders of the CSO. He said he previously had a jamming device, a double-cabin vehicle, and 14 security personnel provided by the provincial government. Gandapur clarified that he consented to the staff’s instructions, saying, “Just close down, this is the real fact of the matter.”

He further asserted that even if the security is reinstated, he will not take it back, emphasizing that there is no need for him to reclaim it. Gandapur’s message highlighted his decision to remain independent of any government security arrangements.

Meanwhile, the Press Secretary to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa denied the reports, saying the news of withdrawing security from Gandapur is false. The statement aims to prevent misinformation and reassure the public regarding protocol for former officials.

This episode reflects ongoing sensitivities around political figures’ security in the province and the importance of clear communication between officials and media. Gandapur’s remarks and the government’s denial together seek to address rumors circulating on social media.
