China offers relief to war-hit nations

Published on: March 17, 2026 8:45 PM

China announced it will provide humanitarian aid to Middle Eastern countries affected by ongoing conflict. The move aims to address worsening humanitarian conditions caused by strikes in the region. Civilians in Iran, Lebanon, Jordan, and Iraq are expected to benefit from the assistance.

China’s foreign ministry said the war has triggered severe humanitarian crises across multiple countries. Spokesman Lin Jian described the situation as a “grave humanitarian catastrophe.” He stated that emergency aid would help ease suffering among affected populations. However, officials did not disclose specific details about the scale or timeline of assistance.

Meanwhile, China reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace and preventing further escalation. The country has actively sought diplomatic solutions through regional engagement and dialogue. Its special envoy Zhai Jun recently held talks with Saudi officials to push for de-escalation.

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi also stressed that the conflict should not have occurred. He called for an immediate end to hostilities and urged all parties to avoid further instability. Additionally, Beijing has positioned itself as a mediator seeking a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

The announcement came amid rising geopolitical tensions involving the United States and regional powers. US President Donald Trump delayed a planned visit to Beijing due to the conflict. Washington has also urged China to help reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy corridor disrupted by the crisis.
